I'm not big into giving away plot, since so many people ruin endings for me when they do that. I will say that I would very highly recommend this book for readers who are more interested in a plot line that is more 'mature' and less 'high school boy angst'. Both of the main characters are grown adults and that is reflected in their behavior.

The main characters, Kazuma and Yukihiro are very well developed despite how suddenly the story takes off. Kazuma is a member of the yakuza and Yukihiro is involved with a tea ceremony family. Sounds cliché, but it honestly isn't. Despite being a bit shorter than I would have liked the overall plot was put together well and you get enough back story on both characters to understand how they came to the different points in their life. As a reader I came to appreciate these two men almost as if they were real people - and for me that is what makes a good story.

The artist did a wonderful job of showing different emotions (something that not every artist is good at), and the overall art is breath taking and hauntingly beautiful. I found myself re-reading this book a few times; losing myself in admiring the way the lines of the artwork flowed and how some of the more captivating panels were well done - they really struck a cord.

It is a more, ahem, 'mature' book in the boys-love sense, but it's not hard non-con, so if you're worried about that then don't be. The translation is good and there were few if no mistakes. There were two side stories that were well thought out and again, the art work is great. Oh, and in the end there is a little 'conclusion' piece; since this was a one-shot I guess the artist wanted to give her readers a little sense of closure (thank God)...that's all I'll say! If you like a good, solid read that has mature 'real' characters (and maybe if you like crying a little - in a happy way) then this is your book. I would highly recommend it to any yaoi collector and I hope to see more from Hori Tomoki San soon!

Crimson Snow Akanure goyou ni furu shimoyuki wa Hori Tomoki 9781427830166 Books Reviews

This was one of the cutest Yaoi's I have ever read. Very good story, Nice steamy scenes and a great ending. I almost cried (Happy tears) The other stories were good as well. I am very glad I bought it. The art was beautiful and it was well worth my money.
The artwork on the cover caught my eye (Kazuma did). While I feel the story itself could have been a little longer and more developed, I enjoyed this quick read. Kazuma, sexy yakuza, was the draw for me. I didn't really care for the 2 side stories as others seem to. I would recommend this story if you are looking for something that's quick to read and if you aren't looking for a lot of steamy sex scenes. There is one almost sex scene and one sex scene involving Kazuma. There is one in each of the side stories as well.
I saw this first on-line and it looked very interesting. It is very, very good.

The drawing is superb with just enough background to give you the idea of where they are, very much a Japanese style I think. The expressions on the faces are the best and in a few words you know what is going on, how these characters are feeling and how much they care, and how much you will care. There are three stories in this one book and each one is lovely, but my favorite is the first. Every time I read these stories tears come, they just touch my heart. Not many manga do that. So I hope in future Hori Tomoki writes more since I think her story telling is wonderful.
The stories and characters were memorable, and the artwork was beautiful. The sex scenes are not overly explicit, and tastefully done. There are technically four stories here, but the fourth is a continuation of the first one, which is the cover story. The fourth story was welcome, because the first ended on a bittersweet note Yukihiro and Kazuma made love, but then Kazuma left to face his demons, saying he'd be back when it was over. Poor Yukihiro has no choice but to watch him go. In the fourth story, it is unclear how much time has passed, but the reunion between Kazuma and Yukihiro is very heartwarming. I actually skipped ahead to read this story, since it was a continuation of the first, and I didn't want to wait for the happy ending!

The other two stories are touching as well, and I particularly liked the third one, because, for being so short, the characters were really in-depth, and you could really feel their emotions. To me, what makes a good yaoi is the story, not the sex, and Crimson Snow is a good example. If you have not read much yoai, but want to start, I recommend this one. If you are sad and a good song doesn't lift your spirits, read this, because even though there is pain, the endings of all stories are happy.
